- The Graduate Trainee – Metallurgical and Materials Engineer will support the engineering and production teams in the analysis, development, and improvement of materials and metallurgical processes.
- The trainee will gain practical experience in material testing, failure analysis, quality control, and production processes while developing professional engineering skills under supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in conducting metallurgical testing and materials characterization such as hardness testing, tensile testing, and microstructure analysis.
- Support engineers in evaluating the properties and performance of metals, alloys, and other materials used in production.
- Participate in failure analysis investigations to determine causes of material defects or component breakdowns.
- Assist with quality control inspections and ensure materials meet industry and company standards.
- Support process improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
- Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations based on laboratory and production findings.
- Assist in monitoring heat treatment, casting, welding, and fabrication processes.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and engineering regulations.
- Participate in training programs and mentorship activities to develop technical and professional competencies.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, or related disciplines
- 0 - 2 years of experience (entry-level role).
- Must have complete his NYSC.
- Basic knowledge of metallurgical processes, material testing techniques, and engineering principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic engineering software is an advantage.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented industrial environment.
